Sosua is located on the Dominican Republic’s famously gorgeous North Beach, a location that attracts tourists from all parts of the world. It sits only four miles away from the Gregorio Luperon International Airport, making it a convenient place to come and go from as the American Winter rolls by.
You have plenty of interesting places to visit nearby, such as the artfully bizarre Castle Mundo King and the Playa Chiquita Casino. Importantly, Sosua is located roughly between Puerto Plata and Cabarete. This means you have easy access to both of those towns and their famous landmarks, like the Caves of Cabarete, Fort San Felipe, and Ocean World Adventure Park!

You can also expect an uncomplicated transition into your new life, since the DR government welcomes expats and does everything that they can to make the paperwork and property ownership easy. And as you may have heard, the nightlife in Sosua puts some cities to shame!

People and History
As an expat and tourist town, you are likely to run into people from all over the place, especially the US and Canada. It won’t be difficult to find new friends by just strolling down the beach and saying hello. It also means that you’ll find plenty of extensive travelogues from long-time fans to help guide you to the most interesting destinations.
For the history-minded, Sosua and the surrounding towns have several museums and historical sites waiting to be perused, and Sosua itself has an especially interesting history. This town was founded as a refuge for Jewish people fleeing the conflict in WWII. With the support of the US and locals, they built a new life here. Many moved to the US, but some descendants still live in Sosua to this day.
