Sun, Sand, and Adventure: Best Things To Do in the Dominican Republic
There is much to see, do and experience in the Dominican Republic! Whether you are keen to try kitesurfing or learn how to dance the merengue, there is a never-ending list of fun activities and experiences waiting for you in the Dominican.
Casa Linda’s might have all the amenities you need and more, but there is so much more to the Dominican Republic outside of our gated community!
Diving in Sosúa Bay
Experience the crystal clear waters, thriving coral reefs and abundant marine life in Bahía de Sosúa (Sosúa Bay). Located only a thirty-minute drive from the Casa Linda community, Sosúa Bay is well-known to be one of the best diving spots in the Dominican.
The healthy coral reefs lining Sosúa beach are thriving and teeming with schools of tropical fish. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a sea turtle! If diving isn’t your thing, don’t worry. The beach is exquisite, and one of the best places to watch the sunset on the north coast!
Sunbathe at Playa Alicia
One of the Dominican Republic’s best beaches is less than 15 minutes away from Casa Linda. Playa Alicia is far less crowded than Sosúa Beach, as it’s further away from the hustle and bustle of the city center. If crowds aren’t your thing, Playa Alicia is the best beach for you.
If you’re looking for things to do in the Dominican Republic, you will never go wrong with visiting one of the 200+ beaches hidden around the Dominican. Playa Alicia is a natural paradise with golden sand, palm trees, distant mountain views, and calm waters where you can swim leisurely.
Surfing at Playa Encuentro
Hands down, the best surfing found on the island is at Playa Encuentro, which is only a 15-minute drive east of Casa Linda! If you have ever been interested in learning how to surf and shred the waves, Playa Encuentro is the perfect place to learn.
Just outside of Cabarete, this is the surfing spot for locals and tourists alike. The reef has five different breaks, making it the ideal location for beginners, intermediates and expert surfers. Whether you’re learning to surf or have years of experience, Playa Encuentro will serve you the waves of your dreams!
Hiking in Cordillera Septentrional
Have you ever experienced the sights, sounds and smells of the rainforest? Unless you’ve travelled through South America, you likely have never seen a rainforest. Well, that’s all about to change in the Dominican Republic; the DR is home to the most northern rainforest in the world!
Hiking the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range will introduce you to sights we guarantee you’ve never seen. We recommend leaving your villa early in the morning, as it’s a two-hour drive inland from Casa Linda to the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range. This mountain range is unlike any you’re familiar with in North America.
Ask Casa Linda’s dedicated Community Events Coordinator to recommend the best hiking trails!
