Residency Requirements
When moving abroad, it’s important to be aware of the country’s residency requirements. For the Dominican Republic, visitors are welcome to remain in the country for up to 60 days at a time (extendable to 120 days with a separate application); if you’re planning on staying in the Dominican longer, you’ll need to investigate the current residency requirements, which include:
Residency Visa
Residency visas are obtained from your country of origin and are stamped into your passport. Once received, you will have 6 days to enter the DR and move toward the next step in the process. DO NOT DELAY
Obtain A Provisional Residency
Those wishing to remain in the DR indefinitely must acquire a provisional residency, which permits them to stay in the country for up to 1 year. After the year is over, you may apply for a renewal for up to 4 years in a row. Once you have completed 4 years within the country, you may then proceed with an application for permanent residency (PR) status.
