community life

What's island life like?

Honestly? A lot like home. Just warmer, slower, and considerably more enjoyable.

Could life actually beΒ different?

.

You already know what your life looks like right now. The cold months where it gets dark at 4:30 pm.Β  The busyness of life.

What you're really asking is: could it actually be different? And would I fit in?

The answer - from the people who already made this move - is yes. Here's an example of a week at Casa Linda:

relax
people by pool
walking trail
couple by pool

Your mornings are yours

.

Coffee by the pool. No alarm, unless you set one. The quiet, except maybe the sound of a lawn mower a few houses down - in February.

Maybe you walk the community on the 3km walking trail. Maybe you just sit there and watch the birds.

Nobody is keeping score.

Your afternoons have options

.

Some days it's the beach at Sosua, or a wander through the shops in Cabarete. Maybe a trip to Puerto Plata.Β  Saturdays it could be the market. And some days you don't go anywhere at all - because a private pool and a good book is a perfectly legitimate Tuesday afternoon.

Getting around is easy too. Casa Linda runs a shuttle to the local towns several times a day, seven days a week, so a car is optional, not essential.

beach chairs 2
sunset dining

Your evenings wind down beautifully

.

Sunset dinner overlooking the ocean, or an event at the Chill & Grill, or maybe just enjoy a glass a wine on your terrace overlooking your lighted pool.Β  The north coast has a genuine social scene if you want it - live music, restaurants, and constant events in Cabarete and Sosua. You'll never be short of something to do.

"Living in Casa Linda is like living in a cocoon, where nothing but peace and tranquility is always present….love it!"

Joe & Margorie, United States

Your neighbours become your people.

.

This is the part that surprises most new owners the most. Casa Linda isn't a resort where everyone keeps to themselves. It's a real community with a busy events calendar, impromptu barbecues, tennis games, and friendships.

Most people arrive not knowing a soul. Most people leave their first visit with dinner plans.

dancing

The things you worry about?Β  You don't have to.

.

✚

What about healthcare?

Excellent. There are very good hospitals in Santiago and Puerto Plata, and a very good local hospital just a few minutes away. Most owners are pleasantly surprised.

βœ“

Can I get what I need?

Yes. Shopping, banking, restaurants, internet - it all works. Some things are found differently than at home, but you won't go without anything you actually need.

β—Ž

Do I need to speak Spanish?

Helpful but not required. The north coast has a large English-speaking expat community and most services in the area cater to both languages comfortably.

⚑

What about power cuts?

They happen occasionally on the island, but Casa Linda has project-wide backup power and its own solar farm - so in practice, most owners barely notice.

$

Is it expensive?

Real life in the DR is noticeably less expensive than North America - particularly for groceries, eating out, and healthcare. Most owners find their day-to-day costs drop considerably once they're here.

β˜€

Will I get bored?

Waterworks Aqua Park with its poolside bar, the Chill & Grill Pub & Eatery, tennis, beach trips, community events, excursions around the island - boredom is rarely the complaint we hear.

It isn't perfect.

Some things take longer here (maΓ±ana!).
The pace is slower.

For most Casa Linda owners, it's the whole point.

Tranquilo. It's a word you'll use a lot.

tranquillo

Not sure?Β  Come and see for yourself.

.

That's exactly what the Fly and Try program is for. Come stay for a week - in a real villa, as a real trial run. Meet the neighbours. Try the shuttle. Eat at the Chill & Grill. See what Tuesday actually feels like.Β
