Here’s the basic buying process:
- Find a property you like
- Make an offer of purchase
- Once the offer is accepted, it will be forwarded to your DR real estate lawyer
- Send a deposit to your lawyer’s trust account
- Sign Contract/Promise of Sale (Contrato del Venta)
- Send the balance of funds to your lawyer’s trust account
- Once the transaction is completed, you will receive your property ownership, including the Land Title!
Foreign Investment is Encouraged
The Dominican Republic Government not only welcomes foreign property investment but also encourages it! To attract more international buyers, the DR offers incentives like tax breaks and exemptions to make the prospect of ownership more appealing.
